Stranded and sewing..

A frustrating week as I have been without car. My car broke down 10 days ago and bad news was cam belt gone and has caused too much damage for the car to be worth repairing. It's 1995 vintage and done high mileage. Was kind of ready for a change anyway.
So the last week has been spent online searching for a suitable car and a quick purchase..As hubby works away it's been doubly frustrating doing things in a tight time frame. Have a car we saw and liked but it's over an hour away and now trying to get an inspection done before Easter and can't get hold of the seller...arghhhh!
My mother is also due to stay for a week on tuesday as well so NEED A CAR!!!

SEWING...Have made progress on the stool cover.
I'm happy with it but next step is to sew the 2 centre seams matching the squares carefully so have decided to hand stitch it. The seams aren't long. Mother will also bring the stool inset with her, on the plane somehow! So hope I can get it all done for her to take home. That will either be laced, or stapled, the latter I think.
Need to bat and quilt it and add durable fabric to square it up to allow it to be stapled underneath.

Also in the meantime I have agreed to go back to work starting April 8th, the day mother leaves so feel I need to make best use of the time off I have. Gosh not even 2 weeks now.
Quilt club day tomorrow, then our meeting next month is a full day trip out in a mini bus doing a tour of quilt shops. My first such thing.I'll have to take the day off work..my 1st week..then no more sewing days :-( for the next few months, depending on how long work lasts.

Today's the day! Mark 2..

I was pretty sure the last attempt, at my great launch didn't post..and it didn't...

I was on the iPad and it just seemed like it wasn't working. So yes, I lost my grand opening post after constant atempts at pushing 'buttons' etc..to help pages and previewing etc etc.

So, to backtrack - today, for some unknown reason I decided, in a flash, to launch my blog!
In bed, reading the news on the iPad, kids at school, hubby away and ...guilty pleasure, back to bed with a cuppa!
Then checked in to Shirley at Stitcherydo, who said ages ago I said I would make a good blogger..and me saying never, so here I am!

Have been lurking for years, commenting a little and read only a selected few favourites these days. And I'm going to have to work out how to make this LOOK a lot more exciting!!

So as I said in the ''lost'' post had to shower,breakfast and then to mother's dressing table stool cover I am making..

I love quilting and have been doing so for 6 years.I go to a weekly gathering on a friday, anyone can come and there are usually about 8 of us when people are around. So it's a nice thing to look forward to at the end of the week.

I have a few projects on the go..something I said I would NEVER do! But what the..if you get stuck on something you can pick up something else. I thought I had better get a move on with mum's small project. Just sorting out a strippy/bargello ''thing'' for each end. I'm designing it as I go!

I'm on my normal computer now. I think it will be safer! here goes, hit the post button and see what happens!
