Party week

What a busy time the last 10 days has been.
Luckily I had a couple of days off work to prepare for hubby's ''zero'' party. Meaning on my feet all day and then on my feet cooking at night!

Thursday was a great trip away for the day on the bus trip to 3 patchwork shops in the Waikato. We stopped first at Dalton's Gardens near Matamata and had a lovely morning tea/coffee with huge muffins or scones. I hadn't been to any of the shops so it was really nice. Didn't buy much, a lovely Japanese lady panel, with 2 figures across the fabric, and 2 green 1/3 metres to go in the stash from Grandmother's Garden. What a shop and with only 45mins no real time to browse properly... Lunch was at Cambridge and then Milton's at Morrinsville. Back just after 5pm it was a fun day.
The party went off really well. Lots of fun and noise. Saturday came out hot and sunny and it really made it to have it warm. On Sunday a few came back to Croissants and coffee on the deck. We had 2 Aussie mates (ex Kiwis) come just for the weekend as well and some old friends from Auckland who had not visited in the time we've been here.

I got a bonus sewing day on Friday as there was no work, so went to my Friday group and got started again on quilting my ''quilt as you go'' batik blocks. I''m doing it in 4 strips. Have joined the 8 rows into 4.
Will post a photo next time. What with the party and clearing up the house, my sewing had to shift into the spare room so I'm on the kitchen table in the interim.

Work week

Started work on Monday. It's seasonal and I swore I wouldn't go back this year, but as no other job has materialised it's OK (I suppose!). Finished at 3pm today so that was a bonus!
Mum left on Monday with completed stool top. I have uploaded a piece of it as my header, which has come out rather LARGE but it looks OK. I have to get the TEXT to my name bigger now. So much stuff to take in looking at how to do it it though!!
We turned our clocks back to winter time on Saturday night and boy did we have a freezing wake up, comparatively, on Sunday. It was down to 10 deg. from the high teens and have had cold mornings since.
Talk about shock start to winter, the trees have not really turned at all but the leaves are falling. The days are bright and hot still thank goodness..
So I was pleased with the stool cover and it would be nice to see it in place. Mum said it took a bit of fitting (bashing with a mallet!) as I knew it was bulkier than the thin cover she had before.
I am looking forward to the bus trip on Thursday with the club. 19 of us going to 3 quilt shops in the Waikato I haven't been to before. I don't have a shopping list as such but you never know what will tempt me to buy! I will take sample fabrics of projects on the go that need fabric to start or continue.
Hope it's a sunny day!
Sorry about the jumping words below but don't know how to solve that so too bad!

The stool top with the curtain material I matched the fabrics to. I used the
cream curtain fabric for the centre squares on point.

I'm really pleased with it. The colours are lovely and soft.
